72 C20 budget build

Hi guys, I'm doing a budget build on a 72 c20 I've had the truck for a few years sitting in my shop and figured it's time .. I pulled a Sbc400 (330817) with 60,000km out of an old motor home, so the other night me and buddy's were putting in the motor and to many beers caused the engine hoist to come crashing down and we punched a dime sized hole in the oil pan ( didn't notice till it was all bolted in... Now for my question .. Will a oilpan from a 305 work? I've looked it up and some guys say it requires a few taps with a ball peen because of the weight on the crank ?

Anybody have any experience with installing a oilpan from another Sbc onto a Sbc 400??? Thanks in advance
