Part numbers

Putting a SBC and NP542L engine and transmission from a 1972 C60 into my 49 Studebaker. I am using the C60 rear cross member, and already have it bolted in place. I did not get the front cross member (I think it is riveted in) so I am getting ready to fabricate one.

I would like to purchase all new motor mounts (there are four... two front and two rear), but part number info seems to be scarce. Everything out there seems to be for pick ups.

Getting ready to head down to the local GM truck dealer, but don't expect they will have any info for vehicles that old.

Anyone have a good source for part numbers, or even truck parts?

Any help appreciated.

Re: Part numbers

If I had a complete 72 C50, I would buy this book, just to make sure I get the right part numbers.

My problem is that I only have the engine, trans and front driveshaft, so there are relatively few numbers I need. The local GMC dealer doesn't have anything that old.

Any of you guys have an old medium duty truck parts book that can check a few numbers?

Re: Part numbers

Well, I scored a major find; and it was free. A fellow I helped out with some very rare Yenko Duece parts a few years ago, came through for me.

He mailed me a HUGE Chassis and Body Parts Catalog for Chevrolet 1946-1972 1.5 through 2.5 ton trucks, Series 40-50-60 printed in 1979. He didn't even want me to reimburse him for mailing me the catalog. Looking through it, it also includes some listings for the 70 and 80 series (just doesn't say so on the cover). It is over 1000 pages. Barely used, but fragile.

It has allowed me to narrow down the exact part numbers I needed for several items. Some numbers have been superceded, but you can find that info online as long as you have the original part number.

Anyway, I would like to share my good fortune with the group here. Want to keep the good karma going.

I KNOW it is nearly impossible to find part numbers. So... if you need a part number for anything on one of the Heavy Haulers, just send me a PM. I am not on this site frequently, so don't get impatient with me.
