I bought a truck! lots of questions
Hello everyone I just bought me an old truck and I had a couple of questions that I'm struggling to answer and I also wanted some opinions on some of the plans I have for the truck.
The truck is a 92 c1500 with a 350 swapped in and a 5-speed, First out is how do I determine what wheel base my truck is? I believe that it is a long bed but I haven't found anything that tells me that it is for sure. Nothing in the VIN and I even have the original window sticker and it says nothing about wheel base. I ask because I need to replace the parking brake cables and I really don't want to order the wrong parts. Also I'm planning on lowering the truck around next spring/summer. Right now I'm thinking a 3/5 drop but I want to see how things look once I get the wheels and tires I want on it. I'm planning on DJM LCAs for the front as they would be several birds with one stone so to speak. Any thoughts or opinions on those? I'm planning on going street/strip for this truck so I want to flip the rear and run lift bars. Is a C-Notch needed for every flip? I'm seeing conflicting info about this, some say that a 5" drop is ok without a notch others say that any flip needs a notch. Will it be an issue fitting lift bars? |

Re: I bought a truck! lots of questions
Anything more than 4" of rear drop and you'll want to notch the frame or you'll be calling a chiropractor after riding around with your axle slapping the frame over every bump.
6.5' short bed. If you can fit a full 4'x8' sheet of plywood in the bed and close the tailgate, you have a longbed. |

Thanks for the replies.
I guess the easiest way to tell wheelbase is to measure the bed? Is it possible to notch the frame with the bed on the truck? I feel like taking the bed off of this particular truck will be the end of the bed and that isn't something I want to deal with just yet. |
