White Paint Inside Light Assemblies.
I have been in the disassembling stage of my '72 C10.
Bagging, tagging and taking photos of parts and hardware. I'm also starting to freshen up many of the original parts on the truck. I was wondering what some of you have done to restore the original white reflection paint inside the Parking Light and Tail Light Housing Assemblies. Just as simple as using a gloss white? I have mediia blasted the light housings and I'm ready for the next paint step. Thanks |

Re: White Paint Inside Light Assemblies.
Tail lamp housings were not originally white. The front bumper lamps were. Here's a pic of a nos example - sort of a satin finish.

Re: White Paint Inside Light Assemblies.
Thanks DeadHead for the photo.
Interesting, both of my taillight housings had paint on the lower 2/3rds inside. Probably a previous owner or when the truck was repainted years ago. Maybe just a little polish job to brighten them up a little maybe? Thanks for the reply, Sam |

Re: White Paint Inside Light Assemblies.
You bet Sam. Some of us were recently discussing the lack of paint in the housings recently on another thread. I'm curious why they weren't painted - prob no harm in doing so.

Re: White Paint Inside Light Assemblies.
It's not stock, but I lined mine with 3M aluminum foil tape so they emit the most light possible. I did the same on the back of the instruments.

Re: White Paint Inside Light Assemblies.
Yep, I did the same as firedemon on our tail light housings. They turned out really nice and are much brighter than before.

Re: White Paint Inside Light Assemblies.
That an LED Bulb in your housing? With an LED bulb and chrome paint your taillights should be real bright day or night.

Re: White Paint Inside Light Assemblies.
I did as"no neck" did and the others on my car.
led's and chrome paint. At first i only had oe type bulbs and the paint.they were much brighter. Led's just made them "really" brite. Drawback,On my car it shows the few "crazing" cracks in the lense really well when your up close and they are on. My stepper rear lites were all what looked too be gloss black inside and out. So thats what they went back too. Still shiney, still very reflective. But not as brite as the car. See my avatar.nos lense's,led's and gloss black. They are not "on" in the pic though. I think clarity of the lense plays a BIG part.
