1982 scottsdale box to 1976 sierra grande

Can anyone tell me if the box from the 82 will fit on the 76? It looks like the mounting holes are in different locations,

I don't know about that, but I took a box from a 79 C10 and mounted it to my 73 C20 and the last two bolts did not line up. The bolt holes in the frame were in a different location and my bolts were longer, as I recall. I did the swap at a local junkyard who lifted off the old bed with a forklift and straps, then lifted the new bed in place. Since the junkyard assured me that the bolts holes were the same, they quickly got out a heavy drill and drilled new holes in the frame to accommodate the new bed. I reused the old bolts.

So, I think 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton beds have a different bolt pattern. I don't know about 73-80 and 81-87 differences.

I put an 81 or 82 box on my 76 and it bolted right up except I had to relocate the gas tank to the other side.

I put a 82 box on my 77 everything lined up, except the one box bolt from the 82 went through both the top and bottom of the frame(I used the 82 bolts)

There is one bed that has an oddball bolt pattern. I believe it was an 81 or 82. I ran into that problem when putting it on an 85 truck. All bolts will work except the 2nd ones from the front of the bed.
