Working on the beast
Hey all!
I've been going at it on my 72 Blazer for a few weeks when I can get to it. I just got behind the dash cleaned and ready for my new hvac ducting. I started working on the leaf springs and got through one bolt with about 4 sawzall blades. Talk about crappy! After I ran out of blades I went and loosened the body mount bolts. I didn't have too bad of a time getting them loose. I had one that I'll have to cut out. It rusted through the mount and broke. Luckily that one is in the bed section of the rig. All of my bolts are original-meaning that they are tack-welded inside the interior. So, for all of you that have changed body mounts, and the hardware is good, was it too tough to raise the body to clear the bolts and change the rubbers? I'm gonna post some pics to show you what I've been up to. I'm always up for input. Thanks everyone! How about that welded hitch?

Very nice project! I'd like to find a Blazer myself but Most of them are gone here in Connecticut. Lennox sawzall blades are the best.... Keep at it..

Just did my mounts. Ground off the heads and tapped them through floor. All my mount nuts came off with ease but lifting the body 10" was going to be too hard.

4 1/2" angle grinder on edge and go slow not to touch bed. you will see the square showing just before grinding all the way through, then hit with a punch and the thin top will fold and drop through the hole. The bolts came with my kit.

Good to go. I have pneumatic grinders, I'll probably pick up an electric to do that job. It really surprised me to see they tack welded the heads in place. I think I have everything uncovered except the radiator section. I picked up the energy suspension body mounts that came with everything but the bolts-I may be ordering a set of those shortly if I cut them things out.

I just did mine last weekend. Wasn't too bad. I ordered the bolts and nuts through LMC.

Did they have concentric washers as has been mentioned in other posts? I was going to look at getting standard hardware to replace the cut out bolts

I ordered an Energy Suspension black polyurethane kit through Summit racing for $99.99 but no bolts. Ace hardware had all the bolts even the two 3/8" by 10" long carriage bolts in stock!

Sweet! That's the kit I bought too. Wondered about the concentric washers-you have any problems with that aspect, and how did the overall install go?

I had to order just the nuts, bolts and washers from LMC via that diagram. It was the most nerve-wracking truck parts order ever placed specifying all of the stuff I needed less the mounts. Got 'er done though!
