Hope to get a quick response! Changing brake MC
Got a new MC, has the black boot in the picture. Pulled the old MC out and it didn't have that boot. Is it required on a 70 with power drums?

That boot goes where the rod comes out of the fire wall from your brake pedal. They are usually dry rotted and torn.

Mine has a power booster and the rod has a flat washer with a rubber gasket. I was just wondering if it's for MC's without boosters.

This is all that's in the brake booster.

I thought it goes over the end of the MC that mates to the booster then the rod from the booster goes into the small hole. I could be wrong.

I tried putting it on, but it didn't feel right when I installed it, so since the old MC didn't have it, I installed the MC without it and everything works! Brakes are good!

I think that rubber boot is for trucks that don't have power brakes.

Re: Hope to get a quick response! Changing brake MC
That's for trucks with manual brakes. It goes over the back of the MC and pokes through the firewall into the cab. The pedal rod goes through that little hole. I put mine on and it popped off. Now it squeaks but I'm kinda lazy lately lol
