Re: Cheapish mud tires
Go to simple tire.com and check out their options. If a cheap tire is available in the size you want, they will have it.
Those rims sound really wide. How about a cheap set of 15x8 rally wheels and find some 33 or 35x12.50 on Craigslist

Re: Cheapish mud tires
Large sized mud tires are not cheap. You gotta pay to play! I'd expect to pay $200 each for a tire that size.

Re: Cheapish mud tires
Cheapest are used tires with plenty of tread that aren't too old.

Re: Cheapish mud tires
BFG TKO-II tires seem to be a good deal for the money but I would also consider some Mud Claws made by Cordova (or Eldorado?) before the BFG's.

I have the Kenda's on my wife's Excursion. They are a nice tire for the money but I've been told they only last to be a 12-15k mile tire. She's only got about 6k on hers and they still look new. My biggest complaints is they take a lot of weight to balance, and they are really loud. So just be prepared for that.

Re: Cheapish mud tires
Check Craigslist. I have been driving for 9 years and have only bought two brand new sets of tires - and one of those I found on Craigslist.
There is a 4 digit date code on the sidewalls. Like "5213" that means the tire was made on the 52nd week of 2013. In general, 7 years old rubber isn't any good for the road. I usually get 2-3 year old tires and they last about that long for me. For negotiating, use that date code, bring a tread depth tool and know ahead of time what it was new I.E 17/32 tread, and check for uneven wear, cracks or bumps and so on. There is a Facebook group for used tires I think.
