Weatherstrip removal

Hey guys and dolls, Can anyone tell me how to remove the old stuck on adhesive used to glue on the weather stripping to the panel/barn doors of a 71-72,Suburban. Is there a special solvent I can use or do I have to grind the suff off ???? Sure would appreciate the help,,,, Pat

3M makes a weatherstrip adhesive remover.

Adhesive remover

Truckster,, Tried the 3M Adhesive remover, didn't work to well
as it's made for lite stikky stuff like bumper stickers, decals and rubber glue.
Any body out there know of any heavey duty stuff, before I get the ole grinding wheel out???????

Just a guess but, using a heat gun might work.

Try the weatherstripping adhesive remover like truckster said, not regular adhesive remover. It works.

A wire wheel on a die grinder or drill works well

Why take it off? If you can't get it off just glue the new stuff over the top of the old glue. You're gonna cover it up anyway...

Did you use the 3M Adhesive Remover (SMART)? Side Moulding And emblem Removal Tool lubricant? That should remove the weatherstrip adhesive.

Tom, the wire wheel got off the remnants of the old rubber ,but the glue still hard to remove

71GMC3/4T-Need to remove glue to treat rust underneath,

Black&Blue - went to 3 auto stores,they don't have "side moulding & elblum removal tool lube"

I'll just keep at it with the wire wheel,heat gun and the 3M stuff,,
