1970 C10 rwd LWB budget parts find?
I'm sure this question has been asked a million times....
Do any later model 1970+ GM vehicle parts fit? I need front disc brakes , brake booster etc and was hoping to find me a parts car. I have acces to late 80's 90's 00's Saturn, Astro vans, Buicks etc. I also want to relocate my gas tank from behind seat to under bed. What conversion has worked for you guys? Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by Mala Suerte; 10-16-2016 at 10:04 PM. |

If its 4x4 just get an axel from a square, that has disc brakes. heck if it was 4x4 find a k30 and pull both axels. then ya got a 1 ton Same thing for the booster.

The link above gives a pretty good idea of different combinations you can use. Whatever spindles are used you must also use those ball joints and steering parts. Don't know of any other vehicles that can be used for brake swaps but Kore3 has adapter kits to use c5 and c6 vette brakes. As for the gas tank, there's plenty of rear mount kits out there. If you're going to junkyard it rear mount might not be the best choice. Instead a later model truck tank under the bed up towards the cab could be connected to the original filler. This mod has been done a bunch of times before with examples on the site. |

Brakes and parts from the square body trucks [up to 87] work. The astro van hydro boost is a great swap. The blazer rear tank is probably one of the cheapest ways to go.

Re: 1970 C10 rwd LWB budget parts find?
Im using a gas tank in my 70 lwb 2wd from a 87-91 blazer. Im going ls swap so the tank works great because it has a built in electric fuel pump. You have to remove the small bar thats riveted on the frame and move the furthest rear crossmember back an inch or two. Please excuse the dirt im building it in the back of a barn
