Hydro booster brake problem

I am having a strange problem with my hydro boosted brakes on my 7.4 liter, when the truck is cold the back brakes tend to lock up for the first couple times I step on the brake, but after that work just fine, and it only does it going forward, has anyone had a problem similar to this before. I am new the hydro boosted brake system so I am at somewhat of a lose to figure out the problem.

Re: Hydro booster brake problem

The overall braking system is no different between a vac assist booster and a hydro assist booster. The only difference is how the extra boost is introduced between your foot and the master cylinder. From the master cylinder to the wheels there is no difference between the systems.

Re: Hydro booster brake problem

Jeff, before you start looking at the hydroboost, look at the basics. Pull the drums and inspect the brakes. A leaking axle seal can cause these symptoms. If the seals are leaking be sure to inspect and clean the rear axle vent. The vent being plugged is often the cause of leaking axle seals.

Re: Hydro booster brake problem

Thanks guys I was not sure if there was any difference between the Hydro and a normal power booster brake system. I will look into all that you suggest.
