Brake push rod clevis pin configuration?

Not exactly critical, but I'd like to know which is right.

My 71 was Clip > Plain washer > Tension washer. The dome portion of the tension washer was facing the RH side of the truck. I least I think it was (whoops).

This is a picture of my 72. The washers are flipped and the dome portion of the tension washer is facing the other way.

Thank you.

EDIT: Go figure there's another of the same set underneath. Didn't see it. That's set up on my 71 just as the top was. I'm guessing the 72 (pictured) may have had the booster replaced, and they did it wrong.

Edited the OP. I'm guessing what's pictured is wrong.

Yes the way the washer is domed it defeats the purpose and it should be flipped

Re: Brake push rod clevis pin configuration?

I agree on that dome.

Seems the best method should be: Clip > Tension Washer (dome faces RH truck side) > Plain Washer. Course neither of my trucks met that config.

Re: Brake push rod clevis pin configuration?

I'd put the tension washer on first if it were me, dome toward the bracket. That way the retainer clip isn't worn at all and the dome washer has maximum contact area on both sides.

Dome facing RH truck side? If so, that's how my 71 was configured (Clip > Plain washer > Dome on tension washer facing RH trick side).

X2, tension washer, flat washer, then retainer clip..

Re: Brake push rod clevis pin configuration?

Didn't see it earlier, but page 234 in the assembly manual shows the dome on the spring against the retainer. Basically post #5 above.

Course that's for the link coming out of the firewall, I don't see a description for the top. That and they're showing the pin inserted from the other side (inserted from the RH truck side).

From the book, opinions, and how my 71 was configured (not pictured), it probably doesn't really matter so long as the dome in the spring washer is in direction of the retainer clip.
