Frame off help needed...

A friend with a 68 step side finally got his powder coated frame back after 9 months (wow)and most of the chassis bolts are not to be found.

For a start:
1) What size bolts are for the engine cross member and torque
2) Where to find the 4 upper control arm shaft bolts

This friend knows "nothing" and for me, just a pic and information and I believe I can help him. You guys have helped me before and I hope you will bare with me on this one. Thanks Ed...

Re: Frame off help needed...

If by engine cross member you mean the main cross member that goes under the engine, it takes 7/16-14 by 1" grade 8 bolts lock washers and nuts. Check the LMC catalog for the cross shaft studs. Purchase a 67/72 Truck Assembly Manual. It will be invalulable in your friends re assembly process. Torque for the bolts can be found in the manual but I think it is 55-65 ft lbs.

Re: Frame off help needed...

Does anybody have any input to what these spindles came off of and what year...

39RHGM 264 6274264 F288

34LHGM 263 6274263 F289

Going to be doing a front drum to disk conversion on a '68 and not sure if they will work and what size inner and outer bearings to use.

The caliper#'s with spindles read:

2L K18007152GM

7R 5474177

Thanks Ed

At this point it seems that the spindles fit 73-87, does this list seem right and complete or am I missing something?

1. 73-87 upper and lower ball joints

2. 73-87 outer tie rod

3. 68 outer tie rod (to use as inner)

4. Use Classic performance CP4SC_SAR reducing tie rod sleeves (11/16" to 5/8")

5. Use existing 68 drag link
