Front bumper bracket question

I have a 1970 2wd C10 with power steering. I have new bumper brackets and the left side hits the steering gear. Should I just grind a notch in it? Has anyone else experienced this same problem?

Thanks for any and all help.

Re: Front bumper bracket question

My '69 is a C20, but I think the brackets are the same as the C10 brackets, and the 69s use the same brackets as the 70s. I have no clearance problems with the original brackets. Are you sure you have them on the right sides? Below is a picture I took of mine to ID them.

Re: Front bumper bracket question

When I put the power steering on my truck I had to notch the support. The factory PS trucks came with the bracket that fit around the steering box

Thanks for the replies. I feel better now knowing it wasn't just me doing something wrong! So did y'all just use a grinder and grind a notch in it?

Exactly, took about 5 minutes. No biggie with the right tool. Don't even notice it was done unless your looking for it.
