1969-72 Blazer Hatch Hinge Pin

I'm in the final stages of a frame-off restoration on a 1969 Blazer.

My hatch hinges have seized.... Soaked in PB Blaster, but as soon as it evaporates, it seizes up again. I cannot find a hinge kit.

What options are there?

I've had the same experience with a set of hatch hinges. Could never get them to pivot freely. Your best bet is to find a good used set. driving the pins out and replacing them is no easy task.

Try using a homemade penetrating mixture, mix a 50/50 mix of 100% acetone and dextron/mercron automatic transmission fluid. Let them soak for a few days, they will start to move. If pins/bushings are tight, great. If not soak them again and punch out the pins. Use the door hinge pin/bushing set, they are the same dia. cut to length same as door hinges. Nice Blazer!

Door hinge pins are the same diameter just longer. Use those and cut to length after driving them in. Wes at Classic Heartbeat can set you up with these, and give you pointers.

Same story with me. I sprayed them every night with penetrating oil and then would work them back and forth. Had to use a hammer at first because they were locked up. Eventually, day by day, they got better and are good now. Took a month........
