72 C10 Engine Swap/Clutch Help

I have a 1972 C-10 Step-side that originally had an inline 250 in it, I have since installed a rebuilt 327 V8 with headers (onto the I6 mount position)

I'm having a hard time getting the Z-Bar (Clutch Linkage) to bolt up to the block and hook up to the transmission. I purchased an aftermarket V8 Zbar from brothers and no dice.

My question is, other than removing the engine, moving the transmission cross-member forward, buying a longer driveshaft, and installing the v8 onto the V8 position of the frame.....is there a way to make this configuration work?

Re: 72 C10 Engine Swap/Clutch Help

I drilled a hole about 1 inch forward of the T slot when I had this in my truck. Z bar was strait across to frame from ball on engine. You may have to fab up the bracket end on the frame so it works..does the linkage from the cab line up OK.

A lot of unknowns. What bell housing are you using? What transmission are you using? And what type of crossmember? If you have The original three speed Bell housing. . You should be able to use the same crossmember. Some pictures would be good.

Currently at work so I'm not able to post pictures as of yet. But it is the original 3 speed bell housing. The transmission is the Saginaw 3 speed. I'm using the original crossmember. The problem in having is getting the Zbar to line up with The SBC installed in the rear L6 position. I also have aftermarket headers installed.

Make a new zbar stud mount for the motor to move it where you want.
Here's some ideas.
