Nice antenna there wes! I was thinking about doing the same thing to my truck but have decided to just shave the hole and install an antenna out of sight.

Thanks guys. I appriciate it. The way I am removing the old paint and rust is with 80 grit sand paper. The upper panels are not welded to any supports, so I have to be real carefull about heat. Once the steel feels a little warm, I move on and let it cool. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I'm impressed Wes. You are doing some awesome work in your shop. If we get a dry weekend I will have to motor on down and check this thing out. By the way, did you do enough research on under dash antennaes to steer me to some sources. I want to go with the shaved look and an under dash unit would make that possible. Have a great week.

Thanks, Larry. Your opinion means a lot to me. You should come on down... I'd love to visit with you and pick your brain for some ideas. (I'll buy the burger this time, seeing how you have missed both of my shin digs...LOL) I talked to the guys at car toys about the antennas, because they seem to know what they were talking about. To be honest with you though, I had already made up my mind about the electric antenna befor I talked to them. I had another customer who had used an under dash antenna and wasn't happy with it. I think that his MSD ignition was interfearing with his reception though. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I am glad that you are enjoying it BIG ORANGE. I guess that I felt like was taking a big chance publishing my project and didn't know what kind of reaction I would get. I am glad that everyone seems to like watching the progress. If it turns out to be half the truck as your old orange Suburban I will be happy. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
