Rear Sport Bumper Gravel Guard

I'm curious about how many people run the rear sport (blazer/burb) bumper Gravel Guards on their trucks?

Have them on mine, I always wondered though how well a blazer one would fit, the pickup ones almost look un-finished with the center open.

Anyone got a picture of these things? I'm going to be putting a sport bumper on but I do not have the gravel guards. I have read about them and I'm just curious what they look like as I've never seen them.

Agreed. I purchased some here on the board a while back. When I got to the portion of my build where I was finishing the bed/rear frame items, I installed them & was less than impressed. They just don't cover up enough area IMO so I left them on the shelf while seeking alternatives.

I was hoping a blazer/burb piece was re-popped but no such luck & finding one that's in decent shape in north Texas was fruitless as well. It's been one of the items not checked off the list on my dually so I've been thinking about it (thus my question/thread).

I bought material a while back to make my own & I'm moving forward w/that project. Much greater coverage vs the truck pieces & cleaner appearing as well.

When I put the van bumper on my truck, I also wondered what to fill the void with. I had a piece of molding I replaced from the back of the cab (scarred from it's previous life) standing against the garage wall that fit the bill perfectly. I laid it on the bumper brackets to center it, marked where the bracket holes were, drilled the holes and used plastic "Christmas trees" to secure it in place. I painted the molding with rubberized undercoating for a texture finish. It looks right at home and just leaves a small gap on either side

Mine is a little heavier duty.

I too, didn't want "the gap" so I made my own filler. A simple "L" shaped 14ga sheet cut to fit & attached to the brackets. Lorne

Mine follows the same idea & uses a flat sheet trimmed to the contours of the bumper. The diff between yours & mine is I have factory inner & outer sport bumper brackets so I just utilized the OE hole locations for bolting it in place.

I got it installed on Saturday & it looks nice. It's still bare metal so I'll pull it back out again for an addition brace (between the inner bracket locations) & then some color.

I did the same on my 77 and used polished button heads. I bought some for my 84 and never installed them. I like the direction Scoti is heading with this. I would much rather have a full length piece that fills the gap. Especially after I tucked the rear bumper.

Hard to define from the lighting, similar color, & limited space but this is mine. I cleaned the truck up for last Saturdays C10 meet @ Keller's but since it sits outside all the time, it's dirty....
