Looking for efe valve 81 k10

I'm looking for a efe valve for my 1981 chevy k10 that has a 350, I might have to install this back on my truck and I'm having problems finding one. Thanks.

There's a lot on eBay. Might not be specifically for your application but I would think as long as it will bolt up, it should work.

Re: Looking for efe valve 81 k10

Which style did your truck have? The one with the actuator mounted at the valve or the one with the actuator raise up near the valve cover?

Low style: P/N: 5234815, searchable with results on ebay.

I wonder what it would take to adapt an early model bi-metal spring-actuated heat riser valve?

1969 C10 (not the current one) that I bought in the early 1980s. Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming.

I don't know which style it had hasn't had one since I have owned it. I might fail my re-test for smog so I'm trying to find one.

I'm trying to find the exact original design to please the California smog lords. I am going to be re-doing the exhaust which will have the original manifolds so I want to put the efe valve back in which honestly makes a lot of sense to have anyway.

Also valid & correct with GM documentation is the number I posted above, in case the original isn't available.

How old do vehicles have to be in CA to be exempt from emission tests?

In Texas, it's 25 years and older.

That's what I was trying to ask you, didn't realize you had never seen the one that was correct for the truck. The one you have pictured is the one I was trying to describe, with the actuator up by the valve cover. That is typically a van application. The two part numbers you've been given are the correct ones for your truck and they will require a small steel tube and some vacuum line to complete the connection. Another thing to consider is if you still have the vacuum switch to control the efe valve. It will screw into the thermostat housing and have a pair of vacuum lines connected to it.

Mike to be exempt in California you have to own a 1975 or older vehicle. Yup my 36 year old truck still gets tested.

Yes I have the vacuum switch already, I know where it plugs into I just want to get a idea of how this thing is going to mount. I will know by this weekend if I have to put one on right away. I'm also going to look for one in the junkyard. Thanks for your help.

Re: Looking for efe valve 81 k10

Just a bump in this thread. I found a EFE valve today at the local pick n pull, the actuator holds vacuum just fine and the EFE valve itself is fine. It came out of a 82 c10 with the same emissions as mine. 10$ later it was mine.

Here it is painted up
