Voltage regulator mounting
Mounting the volt regulator in the front rad support panel and came upon these new rubber mounting screws. I'm assuming they go thru the panel holes with the bigger end on the engine side and run the screws through the regulator into the mount threads and that will pull/deform it to fasten the regulator to the panel? And they're needed to insulate it from grounding?

Re: Voltage regulator mounting
Were those original to GM? Did the factory insulate it from ground?

Re: Voltage regulator mounting
Yes. They are called Well-nuts. They install like you say but are not to preventing the reg. from grounding. The regulator must be grounded by a ground wire on the side of the base. They are mounted this way to prevent distorsion & vibration.

Re: Voltage regulator mounting
Yes that is correct but I'm not sure about insulating it from grounding or to isolate from vibration?

Re: Voltage regulator mounting
Duh (hitting myself in forehead!) as I attached the ground wire under the horn relay screw. The anti vibration theory makes sense....thanks! They did distort nicely to hold it back on!
