Trim clips suck

Started to install new trim on my entertainment center project and the new cab trim came with new clips. These things are terrible, not the same size and shape of original. I bought the trim from classic parts of America. Has anybody had good luck with aftermarket?

I don't know about the clips. But that is a cool entertainment center.

What I've found is the spring legs on the clips are in alignment to each other so they won't push past each other. I take some pliers and bend the springs so they are barely to the side of each other then when you push them in the holes they spring like they're suppose to.

By the way nice entertainment center.

Can't help much with the clips, but I like that entertainment center!

Re: Trim clips suck

The narrow trim strip on the cab originally had clips with threaded studs. These holes are larger than holes in doors and bedsides so the spring clips won't work. I started to cut out small square pieces of sheet metal and tack weld 12-24 studs on when I fell onto a solution. While digging through a misc drawer for small nuts and such I saw some spare door panel clips I had for my 96 Silverado. Just so happens that if you pop off the retainer a 12-24 but will thread right up. I sawed off the top section of the clip to leave on
ly the D/D shaped head which slides right in the trim.
