Tri-Plus sheetmetal ?
Wondering if they are any better than Goodmark or are they about the same. Another member is running a sale on fenders and I am thinking about getting a set.

I'm thinking that both Tri-Plus and Goodmark have different manufacurers that make their parts. I have a Tri-Plus rad support that fit really well, and Goodmark front fenders (non-zinc) that are crap. My grill (orig equip) has a 1/4-1/2 in gap where it meets the fenders on either side.
I have heard that the new zinc fenders fit well, but I'm wondering if it's always the luck of the draw when it comes to the repop sheetmetal. Mike

Half of the stuff i stock from Goodmark has triplus stickers. It is all from across the pond. I use all of it on truck and sell it all the time. I would rather have old gm parts in original paint, but gets harder every day. That is why i keep all the original stuff for myself.
Thanks Steve |

TRI-PLUS
I use TRI-PLUS patch panels & they are excellent. Never used their fenders though......Zoomy

I just installed a Tri-Plus door skin on my truck. It fit okay. I was not pleased with the how the top edge fit the door posts, it just was not formed correctly. The first body line was also a bit to far out for my taste. I ended up cutting the upper corners off of my original door skin and grafting them in. This fixed the problem.

I recently went to a swap meet at the Minnesota State Fair grounds. A guy who is always there had a stack of rocker panels. The top one was clearly marked with a tri-plus sticker. The one under it had a goodmark sticker.
The goodmark visibly had thicker sheet metal. When I picked them both up the goodmark for sure weighed more. I didn't buy any but if I did I would have demanded the heavier, thicker goodmarks.

Sorry.....forgot to add.
I've heard a lot of similar horror stories about aftermarket fenders and door skins. Is it just me, or it a lottery system at to whether you get a good fitting fender or not . Heard good stories, and heard some real bad ones. I'll agree 100% with the above and take an OEM fender in original paint and work with it over an aftermarket one. |
