Need help finding low cost replacement lift springs 4-6"
My Jimmy is at the shop getting a GM 8.5 3/4 ton front and GM 14 bolt FF rear, and they're telling me my leaf spring bushings are shot. They want 6 hours labor plus parts ($150) at well over $110 an hour to change them out.
I'm sure there's gotta be low cost lift spring options that are far cheaper than their $800 quote. I currently have 4" front springs, and 4" blocks in the rear. I'd like to just buy two new front and rear leafs with bushings to save on cost if I can get them for cheaper than what they want to charge me. Everywhere I search is selling lift kits with front springs and blocks for $400-600, once change the options to rear lift leafs they go up to $1000. I don't need all of the stuff in the lift kit as I already have it (u bolts, dampeners, drop steering brackets, etc) I'd like to just find two low cost 4" or 6" lift leafs if I can save some money by going that route. Does anyone know of any places to source just the leafs economically?

Right? I was expecting a few hundred bucks for the swap, they quoted me $1200 initially, and now with the bushings they're quote is almost $2400. I told them hell no. I would do this myself normally, but I just don't have the time while working and raising a 3 year old and being a single dad. I ended up buying the Tuff Country 6" lift leafs with urathane bushings for $305 for the pair after their promo pricing and discount code. I'm just going to tell them to leave the rear alone and I'll deal with that at a later date/time.

Post some pics when you are done!
You might want to check out Offroad design for their bushings, you can buy them singular with hardware and they are reasonable. Have a good night -Shon

I'm not sure if it's 4" or 6" but it's on 35's. I ordered 6" springs so I'll find out soon! lol

Re: Need help finding low cost replacement lift springs 4-6"
I was going to suggest Skip's Spring Service @ 5310 S. Procyon Street. The owner had a 1st Gen blazer. I had them fab up some U bolts when I swapped in my D60 front and AAM 14bff rear.... this was probably 2 years ago.
www.skipsspringservicelv.com Do you have new wheels already? Have you though about crossover steering? Last edited by mcmlxix; 02-08-2017 at 03:01 AM. |

I have temp rollers from my 70 C20 I was going to throw on to get it home, but no I don't have wheels or tires yet. The 1/2 ton setup is 15" and that's not really going to work for the 1 ton axles. I have considered crossover steering, I think I'll see how it reacts first before pulling the trigger on it as it's an expensive conversion.
