Inner fender dent factory?

Hey guys i kind of always believed this dent in the drivers inner fender was factory made but im starting to think its not. Anyone ever seen one like this or did someone just drop an engine on it at some point? Also any idea whats mounted to it?

Nope. Not factory. Something really heavy must have landed on it.

Given that there's some kind of plate mounted in the center of it, something large might have been mounted there at one point, and they made that divot so the item would clear the hood? I can't think of what that might possibly have been, however.

Its the Caveman Adaptor, Once given out freely by the BFH company who could never get on board with their distributor JC Whitney. They were eventually dropped by them due to their having TOO MUCH ingenuity!

Its amazing how clean and smooth the dent looks in person. That plate has been a huge mystery as welland ive always just left it there figuring id figure it out someday. I think im going to use the dimple as a mounting spot for my new 6al box as it fits in there like a glove.
