March 2017 ToTM
Our March 2017 Truck of the Month (TOTM) contest theme is:
Pig Iron Since the reveal day is National Pig day and our American steel classic began life as the crude pig iron, our theme will be based on those trucks that are rude and crude and working their way to being kool looking American steel. Here is the criteria for this month’s contest.
To Nominate: You or someone else may nominate the vehicle. The nominee must be a board member and the current owner of the truck. Once you decide on who you wish to nominate, just add your nomination to this thread. We will need two pictures minimum (at least one full view of the vehicle) with/for the nomination as well as the owner’s board name, the Make/Model/Year of vehicle. Nominations will run through February 21. The first 15 nominees that meet the criteria will participate in the contest We will need two pictures minimum (at least one full view of the vehicle) with/for the nomination as well as the owner’s board name, the Make/Model/Year of vehicle. I will PM the nominees to get any additional data or pictures if they have not already been provided. If the owner has a preferred picture they want used in the contest, please let me know in a PM. You can PM me for an e-mail address in case anyone has problems resizing the pictures for the board. A Poll Thread will be set up by February 22 in this board area and an announcement will be posted on the Discussion Boards to notify all that voting has begun. The Poll will run thru the morning of March 1 and the official announcement of the winner will be on the evening of March 1. The announcement of the TOTM winner will be posted through the General Discussion Board area.

Front end sheetmetal is from Arkansas, cab is from a long time grain truck in Kansas, bed is original to the truck, the bumpers are from Kentucky and the running boards are from Virginia and are nos believe it or not. Motor is a 67 model 327 freshened up of course with a 700R4 behind it. Just a good ole beater...

Re: March 2017 ToTM
I through my Ramp Rat in the mix!
Rockers are all but gone the truck has big dent in passenger side front fender and well you can see for yourself it ant the prettiest truck! The last picture is when I first saw it. I feel in love with it! I put tags and insurance on it and drove it home 20 miles with never even seeing it run except for driving it home. I'll get some better close ups tomorrow.

Re: March 2017 ToTM
Here is my 1975 GMC C35. I'm the second owner and its got 84k miles on it.
I bought it from a junk yard for $500 (they were getting ready to crush it). My brother in law helped me get it started in the parking lot and drove it 5 miles home. It took a bunch of starting fluid and some jumper cables to get it running. We had to stop about 8 times on the way home to let the passenger side rotor cool down because the caliper was stuck on. About the only good parts on the truck are the bed floor, cab and the frame. Everything else is rusted or dented (from getting fork lifted at the junk yard). There is a bunch of spray paint and bondo that makes it look better than it should. |

Re: March 2017 ToTM
I would like to nominate my rig Flatline, as my wife puts it. The truck is almost dead and I am slowly giving it a pulse.
It is a 1986 GMC Sierra Classic K3500. It has the original 454, Turbo 400, NP205, Dana 60 and Corp 14, all with 155k hard labor miles. I bought it with a blown up rear end which turned out to be a G80 that decided to explode within the housing. The rig will be getting a new front clip (teal in color), blue long box bed, and a new intake an exhaust system with some cheapy headers. The cab has some rot in the rockers and corners, but I feel its a great submission for Pig Iron Honors!

Re: March 2017 ToTM
Looks like a rough bunch. I don't wanna see my truck get beat out. Besides I think my trans is going out.Which means its not really roadworthy.

Re: March 2017 ToTM
My blazer has a little rust and color differences but nothing too scary about it.
