Six cylinder guys, what thermostat are you running?

Just put a 195 in last night, that's supposedly the factory recommended one. Gauge stays above the middle. Bad/wrong sender maybe. What's in your's?

Where is the temp sender on your engine? Thermostat housing? Head?

A 180 would be the one to run. Where you get your info from? Factory would be 180.

TJ, where's your 180 "factory" info from? 195 is listed as OEM.

My 64's 292 had never been opened and I pulled a 180 thermostat out of it. 66's 292 also had a 180 in it. That's why I asked the OP where he got his info from....wondering if it's from the shop manual or not.

Parts catalogs say 195 for 230 and 250. Does your temp gauge run in the middle?

Interesting, gotta be careful with some catalogs though. Mine always ran just below Norm. If I am crazy, and 195 is factory, than that just means mine was running on the cool side a little. Only time mine ever ran at the middle was during a 105 degree day idling the engine around doing farm work. Other than that...on the road...it was always just below Norm on the gauge. Temp was at 180 for sure though.

I had a 180 in my 292 and the hot light never came on.

Re: Six cylinder guys, what thermostat are you running?

My 250 had a 195 in it and only time it got warm was riding the clutch in a super slow parade. I went to a 180 but haven't seen hot weather yet to know. Gauge is a little lower than before. An electric fan and shroud would probably help a lot. I daily drive mine, thought it might help.

How is your radiator?

I had the original radiator in and when I switched to a new one my temps dropped 5-10 degrees.
