78 k20 - birthday gift

After searching and searching (and even driving out of state to look at stuff) for a square body i could afford and still have some funds to fix it up, i found this guy about an hour from me.
1978 k20 Silverado
3/4 ton, 350 w th350
68,000 miles
Ps, Pb, Ac, Tilt, Sliding rear window
Factory 8 track radio w built in cb (ha ha ha)

Some rust, but rockers and 90% of floor is rock solid.
Engine runs like a top!!!
$2500!!! I could pass it up!!!

I had to mske it presentable so i replaced the carpet, cleaned out the heater box (mice urine!!!), replaced some hoses, belts, removed to plow and cleaned her up from yrs of sitting on a farm.

I then started shelling out the cadh to make it fun.
- 4 inch all spring skyjacker lift
- 4 blackmax shocks
- steering arm, front brake hoses, shackles, yada yada yada
- 315/75/16 BfGoodrich A/T on Ion rims (because that is what was in stock)

Re: 78 k20 - birthday gift

After the birthday, i went to drive her home and had no brakes!!!!
I had fluid on the ground and looks like a hard line blew.

Next: brake lines...

Also bc of the lift and the single exhaust, the front driveshaft had to be removed, so we will have to redo the exhaust as well.

Re: 78 k20 - birthday gift

well one good thing is you wont have to lift the truck in order to get under there to do brake lines.

thats a cool gift, only vehicle i ever got in a gift was a toyota corolla that was in really bad shape
