1971 gmc
this is my project I'm working on as extra time allows (work keeps me busy).
I picked this truck up originally just to use the cab to replace the one my 68 c10 has but saw that it was in decent shape and it was not in me to discomplete a good truck so I decided to get it running. the truck originally had a small block and a 4 spd but I got it with no engine just the tranny. I decided I was going to challenge my self and see if I could convert it to a short wheel base truck since it was originally a longbed (nothing wrong with them I just prefer mine short). so I proceed to challenge my self and see if could do a conversion on it and I did it and now I'm donating the 250 from my 68 to the 71 so I can run around in it. how she was when I got it dec 2015 |

Re: 1971 gmc
Yes sir I ve been real busy with work and other un expected things that come along but been doing other things to the truck to get it running. ive since put in a 250 inline 6 donated from my 68 and dealing with all the things that come along with that. its almost road worthy just need to get the drive shaft shortened the brakes checked and mess with the clutch linkage. (I press it and the clutch pedal stays on the floor and it all worked fine in the 68) I did not separate the trans from the motor and since the truck had the same trans it bolted in no mods needed. I did have to modify the z bar to get it all to work. the z bar and rod that the gmc had was off because the rod was cuved and it would hit the fire wall and I since put the rod from the 68 so it can be centered and had to weld a tab from the other z bar in order for everything to line up witch now resulted into the clutch problem that I have now. that's my main problem that's got me stuck the brakes and driveshaft its just a matter of getting it to the shops to get those knocked out. I just want to drive it so I can star restoring the 68 witch is the one I really would like to fix up I have a bunch of parts in storage for it but I'm stuck on the gmc.
