access into shift lever housing ?
I am stuck at the turn signal switch mechanism and can not get it out...what must I do to get past it?

remove turn signal lever screw (#37),remove 3 screws that hold signal assembly(#32),"PUSH" in "hazard warning" then un-screw it,let me know if you need more info,,,make sure you push hazard in or cover wont slide over it,,,jeff

The wires can hold it in. I assume that you removed the lever, the three hold down screws and have pushed the emergency flasher button in. After that you have to have the wire shield out of the way, the wires unplugged and then the switch should come out.

Thanks for the illustration. Every bit of info helps. It ended up being the wiring harness that was hanging me up. Figured out the twist thing once it was all loose...and was able to solve my problem.
