HOLLEY 3310-6 thoughts
Hey what's up, I've recently acquired a 4160 3310-6 750 CFM carb. I am going to rebuild it and possibly put t on my truck. I was thinking, I've heard they are crappy and don't respond well to tuning. Not sure. Is it worth even messing with and using? Or is it decent...

In the late '60's I ran a tuned Holley 3310 on a 396 Chevelle and it was an awesome carb. I am not a Holley expert, but if the tuning is right to your specific engine combination you are well ahead of the game.
I am having an old Holley guy rebuild my 3310-4 for a big block in a '68 C10. Here is a list of the things he required me to provide. Pretty crazy, but I can't wait to bolt that bad boy on. POP

Lots of people talk trash about lots of carbs. Some hate Holleys, some hate Qjets or Carters. Sort of a religious/political thing.
Its more a question of is the carb in good shape and tuned right. To me Holleys seem pretty simple, parts are available, and well, I have about 7 of them so I may lose the one Edelbrock on the pickup... All a carb does is drip fuel into an air stream. We define the rate by tuning. |

A 3310 in good shape and properly tuned will work well with a mild 396.
Wideband gauges are getting more affordable so it makes sense to install one to help with tuning especially if you don't have much carb experience. |
