Modifying C Notch ?!

Hey guys! Need some advice! I'm doing a front 2.5 in z / truck is on drop spindles, and full air ride. But to get my truck super low, i have to modify the previous owners step/c notch ( not sure what is tbh) but i'm not sure what is the best route as far as design/strength. I want to do the truck right?! I have thought of a couple things, I could cut were the top trapezoid starts and add in metal to make it taller. B do a 6" c notch on top of the existing notch. C start all over. Just not sure! any advice check out the setup thanks guys!

Wow that's sketch to put it nicely. If I were you, I'd go with option C and start over. There are a few companies that make nice weld in step notches that go from mild to wild and fit the stock frame dimensions and curves perfectly. You literally weld the notch onto the stock frame and then cut the stock frame section out from in between the new notch. The problem I can see here is that you don't have the stock rear frame section to work off of, so adapting one of those notches would defeat the convenience of it. Maybe you could go all out and just fab up a whole new backhalf frame section? User mooseknuckles did that on his build. His build thread can be found here.

Haha dang so starting over it is .... i agree i will look at the tread soon . Any ideas were i should start? Cut from the front start of notch and just remake a custom noth or even back half out of what size recangular tube? 2x4 or bigger? And what size wall? I have never made a frame but its the back half and i can fab soo why not do it right?

I would just backhalf it at this point. I would use 2x4x.120 but if you are concerned with strength you can use .188 wall.

Thanks! Im definately going new back half . I want to cut into frame after the cab mounts so i dont have to relocate them. Then i can just relocate the bed mounts and stuff later . I also already have a thorbros rear axle bag mount set up so will i still be able to use it? My truck is leaf and im doing. A 4 link , any advice appreciated!

I would cut it right before the old notch. That way if you mess up you can always cut further up the frame.

No reason you couldn't use the parts you have. Post pics or a link so we can see what you are working with.

Here are some more pics , i want to lay frame so a 10" clearence is needed. Going to do a back half from the notch beginning back let me know ideas guys! I have a pic of the thorbros rear axle mount i got. My only concern with that is because im doing a back half , how far apart is the bottom bag mount and top mounts limit so i can know were to have the frame run and at the same time get 10" clearence

You shouldn't have a problem using that. I would build the 4 link first then set your frame rails up after you lay it out so you can plan the height and bag mounts.

Okay gotcha so i got the 2 x 4 tubing , no i need to measure the widthe, height of everything but also question, how do i know what angle do i need to cut this to get a 10" notch?
