New to the forum
Hey, getting a 68 c20 camper special. Has the 396 in it, my grandpa put a 1 ton suspension on it. I was wanting some advice to get pointed in the right direction to put a 1/2 ton suspension on it. I also requested to join the facebook group, just waiting for the add. Thanks!

There are several builds that will have many suggestions just use the search at the top of the page. You may want to use c20 to c10 conversion or something like that. Look forward to your progress!

Does converting a C20 suspension to a 1/2 make it into a C10? Sorry if that's a dumb question. Just not understanding why you're suggesting looking up C20 to C10 conversion?

Yes, a C10 is a 1/2 ton,
a C20 is a 3/4 ton a C30 is a 1 ton C40 and larger are medium duty trucks... |

Thanks, are c10s more popular? I was wanting to go to 1/2 ton because I know I won't be hauling that much and I want to drive it. I also wanted to have the option for 5 lug rims.

C-10's are by a long ways the most common pickup. C-20's were not all that common, C-30's are pretty rare.
I like the idea of making yours a C-10. C-20's have heavier rear ends, heavier brakes. Those things are great if you are working your pickup heavily loaded or towing wise, but take away some performance and MPG for a driver or Hot Rod deal. I own a 67 and 68, both C-10's, both will have 5 lug disc brakes when they get back on the road, drum brakes are not safe!!! some here will debate that, I hold firm on disc brakes!!! |
