anyone know where I can find a filler neck?

I have a 82 Chevrolet long bed step side and I can find a filler neck.

Anyone have 1 or know where I can get 1? I have tried Classic - LMC and the Filling station.

Thanks in advance.

You may be able to modify the one for the longbed fleetside to fit yours. Or short step for that matter. Cool truck, by the way, you do not see too many long steps. Worst case scenario, there are plenty of fab shops, that make jobs like this child's play.

if LMC don't have it. try classic ind, brother, classic parts, then start hitting the junk yards

Re: Ianyone know where I can find a filler neck?

I don't think anyone sells them for stepsides. I searched all over for my truck. I used one from a fleetside coupled together with a generic fuel filler from O'Reilly's. I found a piece of metal conduit from Home Depot to put them together. Not an ideal solution, but it has worked fine for about 5 years now.

Re: anyone know where I can find a filler neck?

I also just assemble them however I can.

Summit Racing sells mandrel bends in all different sizes and Rockauto sells fuel filler hose in different sizes and with 45 and 90 degree bends if needed.

This is a 74 model flange welded to an 87 model neck with an old elbow and a couple of pieces of new hose.
I have done similar with stepsides (about to do it again real soon). Between various bends of steel tubing and various bends of rubber hose you can pretty much put anything together if you scratch your head enough and figure out a game plan.

Fuel filler stuff seems to be about the weakest area of the aftermarket for support on guys trying to fix up old cars and trucks.

I agree with Tx, I think this is one case where if you have even minimal fabrication skills, it's not that hard to make your own setup.

This is the one I just did here on my stepside a few weeks back.

Re: anyone know where I can find a filler neck?

I bought mine from here. One fit perfect. The otherside I had to cut and I used a fence post to splice it. had to cut it and twist it a couple degrees. Easy fix

That's right, I remember now. You have to drive like two time zones over just to get to the store. I'll give you a hardship pass on it then.

Re: anyone know where I can find a filler neck?

No one reproduces the metal necks yet. I grab all of the stepside ones that I find. I am glad someone is finally making rubber hoses that will work for the earlier trucks though

Where did you get that short 90 degree rubber hose coming off the tank?

Re: anyone know where I can find a filler neck?

I picked it up at a local rubber supply store, it was a universal 90* hose that I cut down to just the elbow. I know they're listed on Oreillys site under Gates hoses, or you could probably just google "Gates 90* universal hose" in the size you need.

Re: anyone know where I can find a filler neck?

Ok thanks all for the info I finally got the neck figured out. Now to replace the wood. My bed has surface rust on the inside. Are the angle strips that run along the inside of the bed spot welded to the bed wall?

Yes.

Mar-K sells replacement angle strips and they sell angle strip covers that go on top of ugly angle strips if you don't want to mess with changing the strips themselves.

I guess I should have asked this before I ordered but... What am I getting into buying the wood bed flooring kit from LMC?

I would save my money, and get some treated wood from the harware store. And then dump some used motor oil on it to keep it from rotting. That is how my dad, and many other old men have done it.

Sorry misread your post. I dont know the quality, but if you are not happy with it, LMC is a reputable company that will more than likely accept a return and a refund.

A little late, but here's a 79-83 step side filler neck.
