That became a big boom on the 6066 gmc site. Not sure if he sold the engine yet or not, but I think he had it on auction and the last bid I knew of was 3K+

Holy crap. That's a lot. Looks like he just published the last video in April, so it's pretty new and I guess it went fast. Cool to see the inside of our engines pulled a part though.

Re: GMC 305 v6 engine rebuild videos
I have pictures of EVERYTHING pulled apart, from dismantle to vatting to rebuild. I think I have over 200 pics of the teardown and rebuild.

Re: GMC 305 v6 engine rebuild videos
The actually cost is $14,654 based on the running total I keep (This include the paint job). I still need to add $400. for the radio rebuild, the last item next month.
I treat it like a hobby, I did not really care about the cost and I know I can sell it for at least break even.

My engine seems to have decent compression, but who knows what else isn't working well though. I'll probably be pulling the trans to do a clutch job, once I research how to do that. ;-) |

Re: GMC 305 v6 engine rebuild videos
Well that's sort of a convoluted route.
The FIRST engine ran me about $1,600 to restore, vatting, buying all the parts from Canter or Egg, assembly. All for naught as it went under 11' of Katrina water. The SECOND engine only ran me about $700 because I was able to stumble upon a listing on eBay from Flight-line Engine Service where they were selling an entire assembled short block for $150.00 plus freight (almost as much as the block because of the weight). I then found an OEM unused head for $40.00 to go with a good one I had. I had the pan, valve covers, water pump assembly, etc.

Re: GMC 305 v6 engine rebuild videos
Issue is you can't get Half the parts from Egg or Kanter than you used to be able to get.

Re: GMC 305 v6 engine rebuild videos
A few pictures. The only thing I have not done on this truck was the painting and the seat upholstery. BTW, the big orange compressor was mated to the BIG A** tank behind me

Re: GMC 305 v6 engine rebuild videos
It allowed me to blast for almost 2 hours before recharging. I don't know where he got that thing from. The LeRoi road duty compressor was something else as well. I am putting together a slide show for the rebuild/restoration in the near future. The hard part is picking what photos not to set up. I have over 2500 from start to finish.
