Using a motor home tilt column question.

I found a motor home with a tilt column in it. Judging from the steering wheeL it's from about 73-75. It's in excellent condition and operates like new, and the price is very fair.
If I were to go back and get this, what does it take to mount it in a truck like ours?
Is the length right?
Will the linkage mate up?
Will the backup switch need to be moved?
Will it mount correctly under the hood?
Any input will be appreciated.

Re: Using a motor home tilt column question.

The shaft should be good all you will have to do is move the neutral safety/ reverse light switch.

Re: Using a motor home tilt column question.

To my understanding there were (3) different lengths available in these tilts (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
-The 'original' pickup truck tilts (fits in the 67-72's)
-The 'Van' tilts, which did not fit without the shaft being changed out
-The (big) 'Motorhome' tilts...which fit, but that depends on the type of Motorhome correct?
...if the motorhome has the 'Van' style front end with the camper back, is that not the tilt as the typical 'Van' tilts?

All Good

Re: Using a motor home tilt column question.

In theses pics the column with the red thing on it is from a 1973 motorhome and its a tad shorter than the 67-72 column. The slot has been cut to move the neutral saferty switch lower on it. The other is from a 67-72 but not exactly sure which model it came out of except the shifter handle is shorter thatn the original on my non-tilt column 72.

Re: Using a motor home tilt column question.

My main concern was the length, and then the angle of the shift linkage hookup.
I figured on having to move the back up switch, but that's easy.

Re: Using a motor home tilt column question.

Here's a picture of, from top to bottom, a motorhome tilt, a truck tilt and a van tilt. From what I've read, the transmission linkage will work fine with the motorhome attachment arm. Therefore, as mentioned above, the neutral safety switch should be the only obstacle.

So, get that column before someone else does!
