Door Seal

So this morning I went out and finally got the new door seals in from GMCPauls. They are about an inch to long. Should I cut them or will they shrink down over time?

All door seals of that type are cut to fit...assembly manual shows to cut the bulb part of the rubber at 45 degrees on each cut to release the air in the bulb when the door closes

Would you be able to post a photo of the assembly manual? Mine did not come with one.

That is funny, my door seals from GMCPaul are about an inch too short and I have a gap at the bottom.

Funny, I put mine on a couple weeks ago and mine leave an inch gap

I had issues with door seals and a windshield seal as well. Guys, I'm telling you. Go to www.prp.com and purchase all of your seals. They are comparable in price to LMC, GMC Pauls, Classic Industries, Brothers....etc, but they are far superior in quality. I went through 3 different windshield gaskets from different manufactures and a broken windshield before I tried PRP and what a difference. I recently purchased the door seal package and installed it and it does not even compare. They have a rubber coated metal channel that grips the pinch weld and holds them in place just like to original. I can say enough good things about these gaskets. Ohhh... and most importantly, they fit nice and tight, end to end without cutting them.

Yes, the seals I got from GMCPaul are Precision brand. Apparently they are too long in some cases, I'm sure they are just right for some, and then some are too short (like mine).

The door seals can be bunched up or stretched during installation which will make them short or long at the seam. To prevent this you can use tape to pre-install, then make witness marks for final assembly so you dont come up short. The push on ones are less succeptable to bunching and stretching

That is very interesting. Thanks a bunch for that tip. Apparently I'm a buncher. I have the push-on type weatherstrip. After reading your post, I went out to the truck, removed the weatherstrip up to the mitered corner, and just pushed it on carefully without stretching or bunching, and it ended up with no gap.
