157" C30 Question
Has anyone here put a pickup bed on a 157" cab and chassis frame? Please post pics if you have. If anyone has done this, it has probably been a crew cab or something similar. I'm curious to see how it would look with the way the frame "kicks up" at the rear.

You can put a Longhorn bed on a 133" cab & chassis frame but the bed for a 157" frame would have to special built..... Even with a crew I think the frame would be too long. LockDoc

Re: 157" C30 Question
I had a 157" C/30 tears ago and before I went with a service body I was considering shortening for a pickup bed. I had never seen anyone do a pickup bed on a C/30 chassis, so was on my own. I looked at it and was thinking the dip in the frame is too great, yet I never went into measurements. Do the 157s bend more than the 133s and pickups? Again, something I never checked or compared. But, that's something I've wondered about

Re: 157" C30 Question
I didn't have to splice the frame. Worked out for my application.

Re: 157" C30 Question
I had planed this with a lengthened stepside bed and found that the 157" chassis had a 2" higher rise at the kickup. I plan to split the difference and raise the cab 1" and lower the bed 1" by notching the frame to clear one bed crossmember.
Trevor, Your truck is looking awesome! How did you get around the extra 2" rise in the frame? And on wheelbase did you move spring perches up?

Re: 157" C30 Question
Thanks Rob, for this truck, I lifted the body 1", which also helps clearance I am sure for the Allison, I also removed a couple bed cross members and replaced them with the shorter type. I did not have to weld the frame back together, I moved the spring perches forward and rear crossmember. Then I could cut off the excess rear of the frame. This should be one stout frame for the Duramax.

Re: 157" C30 Question
Thanks Trevor for your reply and insight. You did a great job making the bed fit. Your truck looks awesome and should be plenty stout!
