Cpp drop spindles
I've been shopping around for a spindle disk kit. I was looking at the cpp kits and I noticed they have a modular spindle that makes up for the offset of the disks, something like a 1 1/8 . Anyone try them and are they worth the extra money? Or are the regular drop spindles the basic standard? I'm not going to bag it now, but possibly in the future. It will basically be a lowered daily driver, thanks

Re: Cpp drop spindles
I bought the CPP 2 1/2" drop spindles for Disc Brakes through Summit - they had the best price at the time. I went through the entire suspension and went with new Moog standard height front springs for a 73 C-10. I wish I bought drop springs now too. The pictures are of my 64 C-10 with the 2 1/2" CPP drop spindles and rear bags with 45 lbs of air in the rear bags.

Re: Cpp drop spindles
I did the same deal as 64shortbox did, except, I have all 71/73 c10 suspension, all rebuilt with Moog parts, 2.5" spindles and 1.5" ECE drop springs. Rear air bags as well and 45psi in them. I run 15x7 rally's with 235/70 up front and 15x8 rally's and 295/60 BFG Radial TA's

Thanks for the replies and pics. Both are nice trucks. I ended up ordering all the suspension and break stuff today. The guy I talked to basically told me the modular spindles are for people that run larger wheels 20+. As much as I wouldn't mind doing something like that I kinda want to keep it basic and simple but kinda low. I've got the drop spindles and the 2 inch drop springs for the front and the 5 inch springs for the back coming. I already have the frame notched so hopefully it turns out how I was planning. Eventually I will probably bag it but I really want to get other things done first but have a solid foundation for a daily driver.

Re: Cpp drop spindles
Not sure who this "guy" was but he is full of crap. Modular spindles came out with two major benefits at the time. One, they did not space your wheels out an extra 3/4" per side like other disc spindles did at the time (drop or stock). Second, they allowed the use of aftermarket big brake kits if you wanted to run them. Third, they are only 2" drop versus 2.5" of most others.
That was the biggest reason I use them. A 2.5" drop can cause some 15" wheels to rub on the lower control arm lips when turned all the way. A 2" drop basically eliminates this problem with a bit more clearance. If you're running 16" or bigger, not a problem but definitely can be with some 15" wheels.

Re: Cpp drop spindles
Mike is exactly right on all points.
The ability to upgrade to aftermarket brakes in the future should makle every person ever to choose the modular units. (Wish I had) |

That all makes sense mike. I'd say it's a bit more info then I got from the tech guy at cpp. I'm sure I could change my order to the modular spindles still since it hasn't shipped yet. I already had to call them back because I almost ended up with the 6 lug rotors instead of the 5 lug.

Re: Cpp drop spindles
I would cancel your order and buy the same thing from Summit Racing.
CPP doesn't even process/ship your order for 7 days. That's been a fact for years. Terrible customer service. If you have to have CPP products get them from a vendor like Summit Racing. They usually have free shipping too.

I second what Keith says. Order from Summit.

Re: Cpp drop spindles
I thought I saw some of there stuff on the summit site. I started to compare the price between summit and cpp today. It ended up being cheaper though cpp, I got a 15% July 4 discount.
I like those control arms rvfoot. What springs did you use for the front and rear? Posted via Mobile Device |

I hope you have good luck with them, but the Review Board on here is full of complaints. They got me years ago for $100 and I'll never forget it.

Re: Cpp drop spindles
In my experience with CPP I have found it's best to go through summit...Like I've said before most of the parts they make are pretty good , but the customer service sucks as does the shipping

Re: Cpp drop spindles
Looks like everyone was right about the slow shipping process. I finally got my shipment minus something that was on back order. It took two weeks. Hopefully it's all there and it's what I'm expecting. I wasn't in that big of a hurry to get the stuff, but still two weeks lol. I order parts all the time and that definitely has been the longest wait.
