Hello from Arizona
I'v been watching this forum for some time, and have gleaned much good information over the past few months. I am happy to have now joined. I have a collection of classic GM and Chevrolet pickups, all of which are current and future projects except for one, my 1970 GMC 1500 Custom 350/350 SWB (project complete, yay!). I haven't completed many GM builds. The 70 GMC was my first GM build. It has factory power steering, factory AC, and factory power brakes. I am a Toyota and ASE master tech, and have done several Toyota FJ40 builds in the past.
My other GM trucks are: 1969 CST10 SWB with #s matching 396, 400 trans, factory power steering, factory AC, factory cruise control, and factory bucket seats 1970 4x4 GMC 2500 LWB with factory AC, factory power steering, and factory power brakes, factory shoulder harness seat belts and tach 1967 C10 SWB with 350/400, factory AC, and factory 410posi 1966 C10 short bed step side 1948 C3600, 60K original miles I am looking for the correct cruise control switch for the 69 CST10 with the 396. I know these are hard to come by, and the switch is the only component I believe I am missing. It is the turn signal switch type. Does anyone know where I may be able to locate one? Been watching e-bay for some time now, and none of them match the ones pictured in other threads on the web site for this year model. Any advise regarding this system would be greatly appreciated. I believe the one in the attached photo is correct. Can someone confirm? |

Re: Hello from Arizona
Welcome! New member here as well. That's a pretty nice fleet photo you've got there. Somebody likes white trucks, eh?
Can't help with the cruise knob/lever. Surely someone will come along and chime in. |

Re: Hello from Arizona
I don't know, there is just something about white in the Arizona sun, LOL. The left Dodge isn't mine and the one on the right is mine only when it is running good .
The left truck is the 69 GMC 4x4 with original paint, the right one is the one with bucket seats cruise control, and a 396. AS you can see, all of the trim has been removed from that one, and yes, that is house paint LOL. I'm going back with original colors and trim. Top part of the cab is supposed to be white, and the rest of the truck is supposed to be maroon. I have always heard the CST is supposed to have upper and lower side moldings, and a cargo light. Mine only had a lower wood grain molding and did not have the cargo light or the upper side molding, but is a CST. The original interior color is saddle, and it has the original console and bucket seats. I am looking forward to the build. Plan to go 100% original, except for maybe port, balance, and cam the motor. I am also looking for NOS lower wood grain molding since mine is missing. |

Re: Hello from Arizona
There are more white cars and trucks in the US than any other color. Welcome from Navarre, Florida.

Re: Hello from Arizona
Welcome to the club AZ Chev. from a fellow Arizonian. I'm in the east Mesa area. You might want to try Tom K. from the parts section for that hard to get part. He sells a ton of parts from his Truckin Crazy parts business. Really nice guy and I think fair on his prices. If he don't have it he might be able to point you in the right direction.
I just recently purchased a 71 GMC myself with a 402 big block, factory air, tilt, tach. etc. Have not even messed with it yet as I have too much currently on the plate, but soon. Anyhow, welcome. Maybe we will meet up someday at the Pavillions or Goodguys show?

Re: Hello from Arizona
Thanks for the tip. I will message him.
It may show how new I am to this, but I am not familiar with Pavillions or Goodguys? Would love to see a Pict. of your GMC, attached is mine. 350/350, AC, PS, PB. Would be great to catch up sometime. |

Here's my newest addition to the herd. The Pavillions is in Scottsdale at the 101@ Indian Bend junction. Every Saturday night show for over 20 years. Hundreds of cars/trucks. Goodguys car show happens twice a year in November and March. Over 2000 pre-72 cars and trucks. November is the big show. Lookup Goodguys Scottsdale. Check out CruizinAZ. They have a calendar of every show in the state.

Re: Hello from Arizona
Thanks. Yours does too. They're still out there. Not common, but they are there.

Re: Hello from Arizona
I am on the complete other side. Peoria. Have a 68 GMC 2500 that I am restoring as I drive. A great feeling. Anything on the West-side for GM owners that you know of? LOL

Re: Hello from Arizona
Not sure of anything as I have spent the last 11 years on the east side. Maybe we can meet up sometime at the Pavillions car show (Sat. nights) or Goodguys big show in November or March?

Re: Hello from Arizona
I think that sounds good. I also noticed a C10 club Arizona meet this Friday at 7:00. Might check that out.

Re: Hello from Arizona
I'm more down here by AZ Chev, in Sahuarita. I've had my 71 C30 Longhorn for 21 years. 402, 700R4, A/C, PS, PB...........and a Zillion miles on it. I've put 130,000 on it myself, and drive it every week. Have plans to go thru it when I'm done with my 56 Chevy 210 2 door sedan. Have a Dana 60 with 3:54, a much better Longhorn bed, and a 454 begging for a new home.
I've never missed a GoodGuys show in Scottsdale, but usually go in my 66 Chevelle any more. Hope to see you there. Bill
