1972 Bedrails Factory Dealer Installed
Can anyone confirm if these bedrails are original 1972 GM accessory rails? This truck was loaded from the factory with every option.

Yes they are not sure if factory but definitely dealer installed. I just picked up a Nos kit for my 67 yesterday. I'll here is a pic of the gm installation paper.

Re: 1972 Bedrails Factory Dealer Installed
I'm sure different parts of the country had different rails, but these are the ones we saw here when these trucks were new.

Yep those are gm. I think they were 60 66 designed but if they had them in stock they would have used them in the 67 72 style trucks too.

Re: 1972 Bedrails Factory Dealer Installed
....well that would probably be the first truck ever to grace this website so please post up some more pics.
I don't think I've ever seen one with every option. The 'SPID' request relates to taking a picture of the inside surface of the glovebox where there should be a factory attached list of all the options that the truck was ordered with. Here is an example SPID...this is from my truck....not too badly equipped overall but definitely not every option. I would have liked to also have had the factory am/fm, shoulder belts, 3:73 gears, posi, and cruise control...and probably the 400 (402) engine as well....but it makes do so far. ...more pics!!! All Good Coley

Thanks for the picture and information on the bedrails. If you get a line on another set I would buy them from you. Someday I want to restore this truck. It has been in the family since it was new.

Re: 1972 Bedrails Factory Dealer Installed
What does that knob above the drivers side air vent control? I can't read that label above it. I've never seen a knob in that location is that a factory option or added after build date?

72 only auxiliary fuel tank fuel gauge switch. It changes the gauge to read from the tank your running on.

Re: 1972 Bedrails Factory Dealer Installed
Very fine example of the real deal family owned original. The bed rails won't be on the SPID because they weren't offered from the factory. They are from the GM dealer and were either dealer, owner, other shop installed. Some GM accessories were put into the original sale invoice by customer request. Some things offered in the GM accessory program were items offered as factory options and many sales were made by installing an option a truck didn't leave the factory with. A couple examples are AM radio and wheelcovers. These would be the exact same pieces as offered from factory.
