New Truck!! 72 C-20, 9 Foot Step Bed
WooHoo, got my new truck home tonight
It's a 1972 Chevy Custom C-20 with a 9 foot step side bed. 250 straight 6 and 4 speed with granny low. All original and numbers matching. The glove box door decal says: Model CS31004 G60 Auxilary spring 535 white/dark green F60 Heavy Duty Front Spring 020 16.00X5.00 Spare wheel 612 Green vinyl trim The door tag says: capability Gross Vehicle Weight 6600 9000 Max Front end weight 3800 3800 Max Rear end weight 4800 7200 CCS342A179xxx |

That's a 133 inch wheel base C/30, not a C/20.
You'll see a huge increase in your license plate cost. Sweet truck though, not many of them around. |

Initial plans are to get it running. PO says head gasket was blowing oil, so I'm pulling head and sending it to a machine shop. The thermostat has a bolt broken off that needs extracted.
Andy, so the truck is actually a 1 ton? I enclosed pic of fender emblem, but the door decal rated at 9000lbs tells me something too. Does anyone have any idea of production numbers? I want to know just how rare it is. |

Don, Your truck is 1 of 1,542 built in 72, thats a pretty low production number so yes it is a fairly rare truck and definetly a KEEPER!!

72 had the least in production numbers on the one ton step side...

a guy here in nashville has a nice long step bed if you are interested he is very expensive though

Regardless of GVWR, the vin tells that it's a 1-ton -- CCS3

so a 9 foot bed is a longhorn right thats one nice 72. needs a little work little ruff around edges but as long as it runs and drives who cares it's a beater till money is found to fund project. thats what i think.
