Any members in Grand Junction, CO ? Water pump going out...

On a FBD road trip with 1000 miles to go and noticed an fairly good antifreeze drip while getting gas. My guess is water pump, I'll look closer in the morning. 1984 with a Big block. Temped to drive it and keep a close eye on it but fearful it may come apart. I could probally change it in parking lot if I can bum some tools.

Thoughts?

I have had good luck pulling around back and changing parts behind the store. Almost all will loan tools now. A kid from Orielly Auto helped me change an alternator the other day. Then warrantied the part.

I wouldn't try to drive it. You might end up needing a fan, radiator, and hood.

Good luck.

Well...I took the chance and drove the last 1000 miles non stop to the house. I was acutely aware of every noise coming from the truck. Running off the right gas tank only allowed me plenty of times to stop and check.

Thanks y'all
