Static Drop 3/5 or 4/6? And best price for kit?

I'm torn between a 3/5 and 4/6 drop. I initially wanted to bag it, but decided how often would I really move bag settings after I found what I wanted. I don't plan on hauling anything. I love the way the 4/6 looks with 20's, but concerned about ride quaility. I'm getting older now and prefer comfort over looks. Would love to hear input of those with a 4/6 or 3/5 drop to hear about ride quailty. Also, who makes most economical kit out there? Thanks in advance.

Re: Static Drop 3/5 or 4/6? And best price for kit?

Early Classic Enterprises (ECE) and CPP are your 2 main options.
I went with ECE's 4/6 kit. Install thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=612794

I'm happy with the look and cornering improvement. The ride is too stiff for me and I don't like how it feels over bumps. I believe the shocks ECE includes are part of the issue. ECE themselves use ridetech shocks ($$) on their personal trucks. I've bought some CPP shocks (not expensive) to replace the ECE kit shocks and see if I like the ride better.

If you're willing to spend the money, this kit by ridetech is likely going to be the best quality: http://www.ridetech.com/products/sus...etgrip-system/

You can do 3/5 with springs. You will spend more cash to drop a 6 lug more than that. If you have a disc front you can put drop spindles and rear springs. Not to mention the 6 will need a c notch to boot. What have you got now?

This has not been my experience. Lots of ppl do a c-notch but I'm among many with a 6" rear drop, no c-notch, and no problems. I'm glad because I prefer not to alter the frame.

Re: Static Drop 3/5 or 4/6? And best price for kit?

I have a 71 c10 frame 5 lug disc/12 bolt. With the help of a buddy, we've cut the frame down to a shortbed. Unless I plan on carrying weight, I shouldn't have to c-notch I don't believe (guys correct me if I'm wrong here). My truck currently sits on a 8 lug long bed frame and I just plan on moving it over to the new frame when I get to that point.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=730715

Although every truck is different, just to provide some evidence of other members not requiring a c-notch for 6" rear drops (me included), here's some proof:

Don't look at the dirt and grime lol. Havnt washed underneath in a while. Idk where I'm at in the rear 6-7" drop maybe. I have 2 1/2" blocks with can't remember which spring. I only have 2" maybe a little more clearance. I still have to hit a hard bump to bottom out. Maybe once in a 100 miles I'll feel it bump. To do over again I would have probably notched the frame a couple inches. But ride is fine for me. And it isn't needed. But nothing goes in the bed of my truck either lol. And I havnt done the shock relocation kit yet.

Re: Static Drop 3/5 or 4/6? And best price for kit?

I have CCP 4.5/6" drop without C Notch. (2.5 spindles + 2" springs front, 4" springs with 2" blocks/plates) I can carry ~500#, but I'm on the stops. I was a rookie when I did my drop and did not know of the other, supposedly better kits, but so far I am happy with the CCP ride quality...I have the ridetech shocks.

I just finished a 6 lug spring drop of 3/5 and did not c notch either. Like they said above every truck is different as well as your driving habits. I was out about 675 for all of it and a couple of busy afternoons. Do yourself a favor and spring for new u bolts . Time saver. My brand was Western Chassis.

Re: Static Drop 3/5 or 4/6? And best price for kit?

For reference, I'm running ECE spindles + springs up front with bolt in C-notch + springs + blocks + shock relocate + adjustable panhard out back. With front + rear sway bars the ride with 20" wheels is pretty good. doesn't bottom out over harsh terrain at speed. The front control arms are the lowest part of the vehicle and so have to be a bit careful there.
