exhaust....ram horns or not?

So I scored a few sets of heads the other day and was going to see if they fit. As I was reading I think I may have the better set on my 327 (1968 Chevy pickup) already, the ram horns which to my knowledge came stock... So question is for my daily driver which I like to spin the tires on, do I search for new? Thanks

You're just talking exhaust manifolds here and nothing to do with heads, right? Did you mean headers? These trucks all came with what we call rams horn exhaust manifolds. So, you bought a bunch of exhaust manifolds and your truck has the stock ones on it already? No need to do anything, I guess, unless one is cracked or other issue. They will allow your engine to run as it was designed and even handle moderately modified output. The Vette manifolds had 2 1/2" outlets which work even better for a modified engine. Then there are headers for all out performance. There are now 2 1/2" manifolds reproduced as well as aftermarket/performance designed sets for closer to header flow. I think I'd stay put with what you have. Looks like the stock engine which would be the large journal high nickle block, one of the best factory small blocks ever...if you should decide to build it up.

So, was your truck a 5th wheel hauler in it's earlier days? Very interesting body alteration on the bed

I see it as a tow pig rig, both tongue and 5th wheel. There are low profile OEM looking beds sold these days like that. There's a horse lady I see at Safeway that drives an F450 with one of those conversions.

Now about those heads you bought.

Yes I cut down my original bed did away with tow hitch an bumper. Snipped the rear short to about 6-8 inches from rear tire which ended up being about 3 ft of bed and frame, an welded the old tail lights on the rear back. I also used the rear low panels I cut on the bed for my own roll pan. (A whole build thread worth, and I will post that venture shortly)

Yes I was meaning exhaust manifolds, I got a pair of headman headers 1.5inch. And some other no name one.
Now as far as headers I was also able to get an aluminum edlebrok head. Debating putting this one with my new carb.
And all this is by no means necessary as the truck runs great as she sits. So would this be worth the effort or is better to leave it all dialed in where the factory set it..?

No fifth wheel or tow truck, it was a camper rig with long bed.
All stock no radio, shoulder belts etc.. great rig.
. On side note what price tag would I expect from this beast in Alaska? ?

I had one fella offered 3000. When I had the hood up one day changing spark plugs in my front yard. Should I go track him down or is that an average price?
