Hemmings Article on 100 yrs. of Chevy Truck
This web-zine article was posted this morning on the Hemmings webpage. Rich Scheer, director of exterior design for Chevy trucks, has named the 10 most influential truck designs from the brand. I found it strange that they COMPLETELY skipped over the 55.5-59 and the 60-66 series trucks.

They do feature a Cameo.... but yeah! Why skip the 60-66 completely?? First to come out with IFS... trailing arm rear suspension that's even used in NASCAR. I would say that's pretty "influential".

Some guy named Rich Scheer who is the "current" director of exterior design for Chevy trucks named trucks "he" likes. And the writer of this article Kurt Ernst, wrote what he was given and is probably not a 60-66 owner. Maybe that or they needed to make only so much room for the article and the other years suffered. That's my take.

That's odd, especially considering that when Corporate GM did their own 100 year anniversary banner for use in dealer showrooms across the country, the ONLY generation of truck to appear on the banner was a 60-66. It was a mild honor for me as it happens to be my own 1966 C10. Go figure.

Lots of people like to say that they are "car guys", especially in the auto industry. Even within the auto industry, very few truly are. Mr. Scheer will likely move to a new position in EVs soon, and upon arriving will tout that he has always been a huge Electric Vehicle fan.

Most publications are dominated by car people, not truck people, so article comes as no surprise. The writer, IMO, is obviously a car person, and into car styling. Most classic trucks shown got there styling hues from car lines up to the mid 50's and the '67-'72 was a continuation of this styling. IMO, the '64-'66 and the '73-'79 trucks are a rare exception to the car styling rule at GM. I don't consider anything past 1980 as a classic.
