1973 K20 Info Package and "Body Plate"
Hi guys,
Long time reader but just recently signed up. Just got my hands on a 73 K20 and was thinking of sending off to GM for the information package. I was wondering is it still worth the $50? Has anyone got one for their truck recently as I understand it used to be better a few years ago. Also the form asks for information off the "body plate", I can't find anything on my truck that looks like the one pictured on the form with the options and stuff on it. I just have a steel plate in the drivers door jam with my vin and stuff on it. Am I looking in the right place? Thanks in advance!

you should have a vin on the driver side door jam and a sticker int he glove box with all the options in the truck printed on that

Re: 1973 K20 Info Package and "Body Plate"
Info will be available from GM of Canada if your truck was built in Canada or built in the US for Canadian sale.
If your truck was built in the US for US consumption and snuck over the border later in life then GM will not have the build information until the 1976/77 model years. I think the info is worth it - but I'm a paper junkie so I may not be a good data point. I have every piece of paper I can get for my vehicles. K

I'm pretty sure that the options list on a 73 would have been on the drivers side inner fender, in the engine compartment.

Re: 1973 K20 Info Package and "Body Plate"
So I sent the request forum in GM today and they came back and told me they don't have any information before 77. I guess that means it's a US truck that got took up north later in life. Thanks for the info Keith, that's interesting to know. I just used the GM heritage website, think I'll have any better luck contacting GM Canada directly?
