Found a 1/18 69 4x
I received notification from a company I've bought from in the past they are releasing a 69 Chevy 4x Vic Hickey Race Truck (later in Steve McQueens Collection). Truck was GM's first factory racer and built to race in the Mexico 1000 Rally (later Baja 1000).
I've no attachment to the company but realize there are many here that may share interest in dicast of "real" vehicles with race heritage and thought I'd mention it's availability. It's $$, but pretty cool (enough I got the wife-god permission to order it). If this post is out of line please delete it, or the link to the truck here: 69 Hickey Baja Truck Last edited by srt; 11-09-2017 at 12:07 PM. Reason: added a "0" |

Re: Found a 1/18 69 4x
Thanks for sharing. I guess I'll have to buy my second 1/18th. I never wanted t get into that large scale but I guess a well rounded collection needs examples from all scales. So a couple few special ones of stand-out examples would be nice. I got the Mod Bods Eagle on Ochre one so far and this hallmark truck is certainly worth, as well as being first 4wd version I know of. I expect to see other variations in the future.

I've seen the real truck a few times. It used to belong to a guy in Tacoma who was on the board, but he disappeared quite a few years back. Not sure where the real truck is now.

Re: Found a 1/18 69 4x
As a side note back in the late 60's when I was a kid Hickey built a Blazer race truck that I modified a 1/24 scale pickup into a replica. Chopped the truck apart, soldered up some nickle tubing and I was good to go.
I wish I could find a set of the hubcaps for my '7o |
