Will 700r4 need a high hump?
My cab is at the body shop and before its painted I wanted to find out if I need a high hump tunnel for a 700r4 trans. Truck is a 69 with a 400 SBC. I have researched this topic and have seen both yes and no answers. Brother's sells a nice steel replacement unit.

No it will not need a high hump.
In fact a big block and TH400 will fit a low hump with decent clearance. I've had multiple trucks with the 700 and low hump. |

x2.
I had my 305TPI with 700-R4 no problems. I now have 6.0 with 4L80E no problems.

Re: Will 700r4 need a high hump?
I am glad to know this as I am preparing to install a 700 r4 in my truck and was wondering if I needed to change the hump.

Re: Will 700r4 need a high hump?
Agree that a high hump is not necessary but on my 67 --- bbc even moved forward an inch -- I did have to slightly massage the passender side just below the cover for the 2-4 servo cover. May not be necessary on yours and is no biggie.

I've got a 69 with a big block--T400 trans and a low hump, fits fine. I can get my hand around it
