Brake questions for experts

I’m still pretty green as far as actually driving these trucks.

Last week I was traveling about 35mph and someone cut me off. I slammed on the brakes. It did stop, but I’m pretty sure that the rears locked up. The bed was empty.

Is that normal?

Everything is new:
ECE front stock rotors and calipers.
New stock non-power master cylinder
CPP proportioning valve
New stock rear brakes

I've only had to emergency stop once in my truck (empty bed) and I locked up the rears.

NO ABS ,So what happened to you was a normal emergency stop with an empty bed , Now when all four wheels lock up and you slide off the side of the road ,That's a panic stop !

Normal operation for a 50 year old empty truck .

Yes, normal.

My BIL's IH 1110, with manual drums, would lock the fronts up solid if you stomped it.

The other day in my (new to me) '82 Mercedes I stayed into the gas a little long before changing my mind on a yellow light. I guess I'm too used to either ABS or vehicles too old/heavy to lock up the brakes on dry pavement, 'cuz after much sliding and veering I got 'er stopped 2/3 of the car over the line!

Back in the day if you were sitting at a traffic light and heard screeching brakes form behind you the first thing you did was check your rear view mirror to see if they might be able to stop before hitting you ! Brace for impact , it was a common thing to see drivers who had facial injuries from smacking the steering wheel face first wearing just the lap seat belt . and passengers from hitting the dash or windshield .
