OFFENHAUSER (Out Of Stock) across AMERICA!??

What GIVES???

I'm building a 292 and I was thinking about a multi-carb intake manifold, i.e. Offenhauser 3x1bbl, and I can't find one ANYWHERE! I can't find their 2x1bbl intake either.

Who makes these?
Did Offenhauser sell their design/designs and dissolve?
Surely there isn't so much demand, that the factory can't keep up with production, I mean come on......
What is going on?

Just opening this up for a discussion...
Thanks,
-Chad

Yes, you can find those, but SPEEDWAY says the 2 and 3 carb intakes won't ship until like MAY 2018 or something...Really!? That's literally 6 months from now...
Just seems ridiculous.

Re: OFFENHAUSER (Out Of Stock) across AMERICA!??

When I bought mine last year it took about three months to get it in. I had to get it directly from Offenhauser because Speedway had none in stock.

When you do get one, be sure and run heat/water to the intake floor.

Re: OFFENHAUSER (Out Of Stock) across AMERICA!??

It's just frustrating to only have one or two choices for performance parts on these i6 engines. They are a blast to drive. I run cherry bombs because they piss off soccer moms, and they scare old ladies.
Good Times...J/K

I was just curious if anyone would know why there is a shortage of these allegedly popular Offenhauser intakes? I think Offenhauser sold their design to someone, but i can't remember where i saw that.

Re: OFFENHAUSER (Out Of Stock) across AMERICA!??

With the low volume on a lot of the intakes for these and other old engines they may only tool up once a year to make em. I think 74 was the last year for this head design so that makes a 43 year old engine a newer one. Realistically how many do you think they sell every year?

Re: OFFENHAUSER (Out Of Stock) across AMERICA!??

Jimmy,
I don't know how many they make per year. Apparently not enough.

It's very possible that they only make one production run per year.

If I want a new one, it looks like I'll have to wait 6 months, and that's not a huge deal if I decide to keep the multi-carb plan. I already have carbs, so that's plan A. In the mean time I'll just continue to search for a used one or go a different direction I guess.

You're probably right!
Isn't everything made in china for $1 and sold for $100 in America anymore!?

You know, you would think great names like that would do better, but they limited their production. Take a look at Halibrand wheels, Great name bad management.

Re: OFFENHAUSER (Out Of Stock) across AMERICA!??

As mentioned above, the biggest problem with uncommon parts for these old trucks is cost of production vs. sales.

Seems less and less companies want to make parts that only sell occasionally. Some companies just let Taiwan/China make them for a lot less -but quality goes down.

Barnfind,

Do you have any contact info. for Offenhauser? I'd be interested in talking to them, and possibly ordering a 3x1bbl intake. That's what i'm needing....

Thanks,
-Chad
